It's the end of the world as we know it; or not.

Has everyone ticked off the last item on the bucket list? Bid your family and friends farewell? Why not; don't you know the world ends tomorrow?

Yes the 21st day of the 12th month of the year 2012 is the end of time... according to the Mayans. Well actually not according to the Mayans, but according to all the kooks who happily misinterpreted Mayan inscriptions.

In essence:
from BizarroBlog (was BizarroComic)

That's pretty much it. The 21st represents the end of the 13th B'ak'tun and the date using the Mayan Long Calender flips to 13.0.0.0.0. Of course this being an end of a cycle and featuring the dreaded number of 13 got some people's knickers in a twist.

Firstly - seriously it's a calendar based on an arbitrary point in time just like the dominant Western Calendar. Heck the Islam Calendar starts with the first hijra why not when the Mohammed received revelation 12 years earlier? Someone just said "Let's start counting from here".

Secondly this is the end of the 13th b'ak'tun marking the start of the 14th. It's not even the end of the first p'ik'tun which won't occur until 13th October 4772; strictly speaking the date will flip over to 0.13.0.0.0.0. Why bother to create another unit of measurement if the world is coming to an end?

Thirdly, and related to my second point, consider if you knew the world was ending at the end of 2012; would you buy a 2013 calendar? Would you then mark on that calendar a business trip in March, anniversaries, birthdays, bin collection days etc.? Kind of pointless; yet that's the equivalent of what the Mayans did. They've set up reminders for feast days etc. that extend well past the 'end of the world'.

Fourthly. Why the hell should we be treating this with any form of seriousness at all? We don't get all excited about turning points in the Roman calendar; hell we don't get excited about changes in the Judaic or Islamic calendar and they're still being used. Nope just the Mayan's because you know they had all this secret wisdom; and were visited by extraterrestrials... sigh.

Fifthly. Ah but wait what about the great celestial alignment that's going to see the Sun, and Earth aligned with the black hole at the centre of the galaxy (and/or some dust cloud) with gravitational forces doing nasty things to us? We're not even going to be at the closest point to the black hole, we move in and out all the time anyway, and the effect this has is about 1 part in 900,000,000.

Or of course there's Nemesis (or Erin, or Nibiru) which is either some rogue planet or Earth's orbital twin that's going to suddenly appear and hit us. Again gravity, if there were a planet out there, we'd  know about it due to the gravitational effect it would have on other planets, recall that's how Neptune was discovered as a planet. Any sort of rogue of that magnitude on a cyclical orbit would show up. As for a 'twin' in order to remain hidden behind the Sun would a) require some serious rewriting of physics due to the speed differences as we orbit the Sun and b) if it were catching us up (or the other way around) its high relative motion would show up on pretty much every astronomer's telescope (including amateurs for the tin-foil hat brigade).

But hey if there's anyone reading this who absolutely truly believes that the world is about to end; then I have  a PayPal account you can transfer all your worldly assets to; not as if they're going to help you and if you're a Christian dying poor is supposedly a good thing.

Wibiya's New Toolbar Design

   As you may have noticed, Wibiya redesigned their toolbar. As you can see it looks completely different, not just for you but for every visitor. Depending on where you arrive to my site from the toolbar will be different. For example, if you come to my site from Facebook then the toolbar will show your friends and the Facebook like button. The same if someone were to visit from Google+ then you'd see the G+ button instead. The only real way to fully explain how the new toolbar works is to try it for yourselves. If you enter my site from different locations you will see what I am trying to explain.

    In my opinion, the new design looks pretty good. The first time I updated it I was confused thou. I didn't know how to edit it nor how it worked but now I understand it better. So if you have a blog/website then I recommend you upgrade and be patient with the options.

    Milano's is a pasta and pizza restaurant I tried out the other day. I got an extra large bacon pepperoni pizza. It wasn't the best pizza I've had but it was delicious. I nearly ate the entire pie by myself. As soon as you walk into the restaurant you see a couch with a table full of magazines. Not the usual setting for a pizza place but it was a comfy couch. I wouldn't mind going back for another pie if I had the chance.

Coping with the end of the end of the world

It's now 11:12 GMT one minute past the end of the world and for all those believers still standing there's only one thought passing through their minds "How do I explain this in a way that won't make me look like an idiot?". Here's hoping I can help you out:

Tip #1. Go for the metaphysical. The world has ended, but not the physical world is was never going to be that; instead it's the dawning of a new spiritual world.

Bonus. Your claim can never be refuted.

Tip #2. Mistranslation. The Mayan calendar really started later so the end of the world is still yet to come.

Bonus. You can do this all over again.

Tip #3. "Hah fooled you" not as good as the first two in that this makes you look like a jerk rather than an idiot, but hey go with it if you've nothing else

Bonus. You can do this with any other idiotic thing you say in the future

Tip #4. Realise that this was all a crock of shit; go back into education; and learn about science.

Bonus. Actually learning something... yeah whom I kidding if you've gone this far you'd best stick with one of the first three options.

How the new Tesco road fails

To contact us Click HERE
For the first time since the new bridge for Tesco opened we've had a confluence of events that resulted in traffic being commensurate with that which can be expected with a new housing development and a superstore.

If, in simplistic terms, one considers Stourport as a crossroads last night one 'arm' was closed and another slowed down by traffic lights leaving traffic building up through town and beyond. I decided to slip off down the new route and see how it would stand up. What I discovered was some major flaws in its layout

To begin the road begins at the turn off into Discovery Way there is no problems at this point as the entire design was to accommodate a Relief Road and the road is wide and shallow to make an easy turn. Of course there's still that small scraped depression in the surface that was caused by a HGV trying to gain purchase on a recently re-tarred stretch oo 5 years ago which goes to show how often they look at these things.

Travelling up the existing road is also fine, it's where the new road continues that things start to get odd. The main thing to notice is how dark it is - there are no street lights.Not that good for a road leading to a corner onto a bridge. This has necessitated a big, slightly badly placed, chevroned warning sign. Not really a problem, just odd as this was supposedly the start for the Relief Road that would be running in a straight line onwards with an island. There seems to be no provision for such.

Over the dark bridge and another turn back and problem two arises. The road connects to an existing road, Cheapside, which is perfectly understandable. However this road has a slight twist in it which means traffic exiting, the now one-way, Lichfield Street don't have a clear view of traffic heading from this new direction. It's only a minor problem as there shouldn't be much traffic coming from Lichfield Street, but I can see accidents occurring.

However this is where the real problems start. In order to placate residents and council they've added parking bays and painted bus stop areas. Not bad per se; it's where they've put them. In a fit of sheer 'look at the plans not the area' the parking bays start at a rise and bend. To start that means anyone coming along the new road, i.e. from the housing development or Tesco, can't see what's coming the other way. Yup driving on the wrong side of the road.

It gets better - the parking bays are split into two sections with a bus stop in between them on the opposite side. so if a bus stops nothing can move. Traffic on the 'correct' side from the lights can't get past the bus and traffic from the new side can't slot in between the parking bays.

Wait it gets even better. At the end of the second parking bays is the other bus stop. set up before the lights. So even if there's no bus facing the new traffic they have to guess whether of not they can reach the lights without traffic sweeping around the corner and heading straight for them.

So blockage of the new traffic and, should it mistime things, blockage of the old traffic too.

Except that's going to happen anyway as the planners haven't taken into consideration that traffic backs up along the old route (Mitton Street) in that they've failed to mark out a keep clear at the new entrance. Result:

Lights go red on the old route, lights go green on the new route, but none of them can move as the traffic has backed up across the exit. As no-one is moving the lights sense this and switch back; repeat until dead. Yep I watched this happen (in this instance aided by Mitton Street being reduced to the one right-hand lane thanks to a delivery to the Hollybush).

Lights changed red, amber, green; no-one moved; 5 seconds later lights switched back to red. One minute later repeat. One minute later, repeat. If it wasn't for the fact that the queue just happened to start moving as our lights changed I'd probably still be there.

And this is without the new developments. Chaos beckons.

Yahoo CEO is fired amid 'dull' growth

To contact us Click HERE

“I am very sadto tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s Chairman of theBoard”. These were the last words from Carol Bartz, the 62-year-old former CEOof Yahoo. The email, sent on Tuesday, saw her sacked after a “lack of aturnaround for the business”.
1 Billion US dollars. Enough tobuy infinite Yahoo memberships, as free as they are. It seems that is all Yahoois renowned for now; many email accounts and abnormal bulletins on thehomepage. Yahoo had a revenue of $1 Billion last year, and was still describedas being “largely flat in recent years” by The Wall Street Journal. Carol Bartzwas therefore sacked on Tuesday (6/09/11) after two and a half years as CEO ofthe once market-leading company of the dot-com generation. So, why?
Stock increaseBartz had one year left on hercontract so the decision to dismiss her now seems to suggest change was neededimmediately. In fact, the day after her departure saw Yahoo’s stock close withan increase of 5.4% the next day. Optimism is on the rise again it seems,almost rather embarrassingly, as soon as Bartz was deemed unfit for her duties.Does it come has a surprise? If you look on Yahoo, or have followed itsexistence, you’d know that it hasn’t changed too much. From being the no.1search engine at the beginning of the last decade it has, in recent years, lostground to Google and been slightly damaged by the surge of Facebook. In fact,the number of visits onto the site from U.S viewers has dropped by 33% sinceCarol Bartz arrived.
However, Ms. Bartz must have somecredit. She overhauled the organisational structure to make it moredecentralised and challenged the efficiency of the business. Unfortunately, herresponse to a reporter back in 2010 seems rather ironic nowadays.
Reporter: Why isn’t Yahoo as hotas Facebook?
Bartz: Remind me, what’s theirrevenue?

Where now? Yahoo is to now focus on organicgrowth. Organic growth is growth which is achieved ‘naturally’, usually fromsales, and not from external sources such as mergers or acquisitions. It needsto think of innovative ways to regain its market position, with the stand-ininterim CEO Tim Morse given the go-ahead to steer the turn-around. Expect inthe very near future features from Yahoo to engage the late teens/young adultdemographic which Facebook has done so well to draw in. Hotmail might be anexample of such developments with its unlimited storage capacity andconnections with MSN messenger. Or maybe this really is the beginning of theend of Yahoo, with competition becoming increasingly competitive. It’s safe tosay, Yahoo’s dominance is now over and the expulsion of their CEO seems toindicate they feel the same way. This is a new beginning for Yahoo and newpossibilities for the market. Watch this space.

The Conservatives are interested in how fair you think their benefit reforms are and to get as much input as possible have, allegedly, launched an online ad:

Currently this ad doesn't feature on the Conservative's own site but has been picked up by a few others. There is a leaflet using the same imagery and featuring the Conservative logo and printing details; so it might well be genuine. Seriously though how can anyone coming to a survey from this advert give a fair opinion - "Oh yes I think the government should give more money to people who won't work than to hardworking families" How about to people who get assessed like this? Or this?

Oh but of course if you're in genuine need that's okay they're only targeting those to lazy to work who treat the benefit system as a right. I mean how else can you explain a 40% rise in convictions for benefit fraud? Have you been paying attention to my posts regarding statistics? That's a rise from 7,040 to almost 10,000. How many people on benefits in this country? Including all types of benefits - 30,000,000. So that's 0.03% convictions. So either there's a lot of genuine cases out there or those work-shy are damn good at not being caught.

So is it xmas that creates bad drivers or is just the same percentage with more traffic?

Entered the Crossley car park to find a driver coming round the corner on the wrong side. Managed to stop for the car indicating left as they turned right around the island. Watched a car speed past before cutting in to turn left. Got stuck as a van blocked the road trying to turn right from a side road onto the main. Pulled up behind the car that had sped past me and was now waiting to turn right.

And that was just this morning.

Early Play - What's the Big Deal?

To contact us Click HERE
It appears that a few retailers have jumped the gun and began selling Modern Warfare 3 just a *tad* early.  Those that have been able to take advantage of this, of course, started playing.  Yesterday, Xbox Live Director of Policy and Enforcement Stephen Toulouse tweeted the following:

Stepto: clarification: dblchk'd with Activision. Mw3 pre-release play not authorized. So pls be patient. Playing early may impact your account! (link to tweet)

Two things are at question here.  First, it has been Microsoft's policy in the past that if you've legitimately obtained a game prior to its official release, go nuts.  This even came from Toulouse himself earlier in the day tweeting:

Stepto: For those asking about MW3 pre-release play: If your copy is legit and obtained legitly, have fun. It's a great game. (link to tweet)

So why the reversal?  Is Activision now dictating to Microsoft what its policy should be?  Moreover, if they're really that concerned about people playing it before release, here's a novel thought.  Turn off the multiplayer servers until release.  That'll teach those bastards to pay you money before they're supposed to!

And that brings me to point number two.  Why does it really matter?  These people are not pirates.  They're paying customers.  I could totally understand if these were leaked copies of the game being spread far and wide across the Internet.  This is not the case.  Here, you're punishing your most rabid fans for legitimately obtaining the game early.  You want to take it out on someone?  Find the retailer that sold it early and tell them they don't get the game next time.  Or if it was really that severe in your eyes, blacklist them from getting other games published from your company.  Don't punish the consumer, they're innocent in this scenario.  Who of us *wouldn't* take that opportunity?

The conspiracy theorist in me isn't entirely sure this hasn't been orchestrated since Battlefield 3 is enjoying some pretty ridiculous sales numbers with no opposition and Activision can't have it.  This could be the *wink wink, nudge nudge* "Now you're not supposed to be doing this yet guys!" in order to get some free publicity and to undercut the competition.

It's moderate level d-baggery at its worst, and crappy publicity stunt at its best.  Either way, the consumer that did no wrong ends up standing to lose the most.

Update - Toulouse later went on to say that nobody would see retribution for early play but to "wait til Tuesday to play with everybody", whatever that meant.

Veteran Gamer's Top 5 Games of the Year

Back again!  Sorry for the delay on this article, but hey, I'm only one man.  And just as with last, year, the following disclaimer returns:

There's no way I can play all of the great games that were released this year.  So this is purely my "Top 5 Games I played this year" list, with the system I played it on in parenthesis.  The biggest caveat to this list that should be noted off the top.  I only own the 360 and PS3.  The Wii hasn't held my interest since launch, and I don't have a PC that is beefy enough to run anything worth playing.

Continuing last year's start, I present to you the game I just didn't get last year:

WTF Was This Game So Popular Game of the Year:  Nobody!

Three cheers for the gaming industry and press!  As I looked back at last year, there were NO critically acclaimed games released that I sat wondering why I was playing.  Everything I played was worth playing, and I think that speaks to just how AWESOME a year 2011 was for gaming.

Most Disappointing Game of the Year: Battlefield 3

As awesome as Battlefield Bad Company 2 was last year, Battlefield 3 completely disappointed.  Glitches galore ruin this iteration of 2010's best shooter.  My crew and I still have issues with mics working properly and actually staying in our squads after joining games.  EA shot high with its marketing and unfortunately DICE fell flat in delivery.

#5:  Mortal Kombat (Xbox 360)

Surprise, surprise, surprise.  For the first time in forever, a Mortal Kombat game was worth playing for me.  Chucking the 3D gameplay that strayed so far from what made the series great at it's inception, NetherRealm went all nostalgia on us and FREAKING NAILED IT.  But it's not just nostalgia running the show here.  The game includes a real story mode that is the most entertaining in any one on one fighting game I've ever played.  I've sunk 11 hours in this game and still haven't finished the story.  If you've ever been a fan of the series, you'll find the newest iteration well worth your money.

#4:  Uncharted 3 (PS3)

Uncharted 3 was equal parts frustrating, equal parts mesmerizing in my experience.  Game controls were frustrating in many parts, from inadvertently jumping to my death many times, to everyone's favorite thing, instant fail sequences.  But the parts where it fell short were minimal compared to the fantastic visuals and engaging story, which is why despite my frustration, Uncharted 3 reaches my top 5.

#3:  The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Xbox 360)

It just couldn't live completely up to the hype for me.  Add in a month period where the game was unplayable due to an elemental bug introduced after a patch, and Skyrim fell out of the GOTY perch for me.  However, this is still an outstanding game.  I've barely scratched the surface in my 16 hours of play, and love this fact.  This is of course a detriment to several high quality games sitting on my shelf, some of which I've not even touched, but they'll get their due.  Eventually.

#2:  Gears of War 3 (Xbox 360)

The Gears trilogy finishes strong.  Another great single player experience, and a lot more splattering grubs and glowies.  Though I don't get the competitive multiplayer at all in this series, Horde 2.0 and the new Beast modes shine.  The tower defense style in Horde 2.0 improves on an already addicting formula.  And of course, the ability to play as the Locust in Beast mode is a neat new addition.  In another year, this could have been the GOTY... but it's most certainly the shooter of the year!

Before I get to #1, here are some honorable mentions...

Honorable Mention:  Forza Motorsport 4 (Xbox 360)

Everyone's favorite version of car porn probably would have made my list had I just had some more time to play it.  Sadly, with only 3 hours played, I couldn't in good conscience put it into my top 5.  That said, I've had a blast with what I've played of what is easily the most beautiful racing game on a console.

Honorable Mention:  Shadows of the Damned (Xbox 360)

God of War like in it's gameplay, but a 3rd person shooter in reality.  Throw in copious amounts of gore and bullet time sequences and you've got... well... what this game is.  This is a really hard game to describe, and yet in the short time I played it (less than an hour) I was having a lot of fun.  If you like shooters and want something different, you won't be disappointed.

Honorable Mention:  Once Upon a Monster (Xbox 360)

Holy crap, a Kinect game made this list!  But it's because it's an unbelievable experience if you also happen to have young children.  I've played eight hours of this game with my son, and he's just loved it to death.  I can't thank Double Fine enough for giving me my first gaming experience with my son and making it great.

And now, Veteran Gamer's Game of the Year is...

Game of the Year:  Portal 2 (PS3)

I could wax poetic about this game.  I devoured the single player in this game, leapt into the multiplayer via couch co-op with a friend, and was disappointed to finally reach the end.  The puzzles were brilliant, the humor was some of the best ever in a video game, and the gameplay was near perfection.  I'm not sure how Valve will deliver us a Portal 3 after the ending, but here's hoping they find a way, because a world without GladOS is a world I don't want to live in.

Thus closes my year in gaming for 2011.  Can 2012 possibly top 2011 and even 2010 before it?  Like last year, the games I didn't get to which certainly could have been contenders for my top five were numerous.  A few that would certainly have been in the running were Batman Arkham City, Saint's Row the Third, Dark Souls, LA Noire, and certainly more.  As with last year, thanks to everyone who's sticking with my tiny little blog.  I hope to improve more for this year!

I wouldn't mind going back for another pie if I had the chance.

Yahoo CEO is fired amid 'dull' growth

To contact us Click HERE

“I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s Chairman of the Board”. These were the last words from Carol Bartz, the 62-year-old former CEO of Yahoo. The email, sent on Tuesday, saw her sacked after a “lack of a turnaround for the business”.
1 Billion US dollars. Enough to buy infinite Yahoo memberships, as free as they are. It seems that is all Yahoo is renowned for now; many email accounts and abnormal bulletins on the homepage. Yahoo had a revenue of $1 Billion last year, and was still described as being “largely flat in recent years” by The Wall Street Journal. Carol Bartz was therefore sacked on Tuesday (6/09/11) after two and a half years as CEO of the once market-leading company of the dot-com generation. So, why?
Stock increaseBartz had one year left on her contract so the decision to dismiss her now seems to suggest change was needed immediately. In fact, the day after her departure saw Yahoo’s stock close with an increase of 5.4% the next day. Optimism is on the rise again it seems, almost rather embarrassingly, as soon as Bartz was deemed unfit for her duties. Does it come has a surprise? If you look on Yahoo, or have followed its existence, you’d know that it hasn’t changed too much. From being the no.1 search engine at the beginning of the last decade it has, in recent years, lost ground to Google and been slightly damaged by the surge of Facebook. In fact, the number of visits onto the site from U.S viewers has dropped by 33% since Carol Bartz arrived.
However, Ms. Bartz must have some credit. She overhauled the organisational structure to make it more decentralised and challenged the efficiency of the business. Unfortunately, her response to a reporter back in 2010 seems rather ironic nowadays.
Reporter: Why isn’t Yahoo as hot as Facebook?
Bartz: Remind me, what’s their revenue?

Where now? Yahoo is to now focus on organic growth. Organic growth is growth which is achieved ‘naturally’, usually from sales, and not from external sources such as mergers or acquisitions. It needs to think of innovative ways to regain its market position, with the stand-in interim CEO Tim Morse given the go-ahead to steer the turn-around. Expect in the very near future features from Yahoo to engage the late teens/young adult demographic which Facebook has done so well to draw in. Hotmail might be an example of such developments with its unlimited storage capacity and connections with MSN messenger. Or maybe this really is the beginning of the end of Yahoo, with competition becoming increasingly competitive. It’s safe to say, Yahoo’s dominance is now over and the expulsion of their CEO seems to indicate they feel the same way. This is a new beginning for Yahoo and new possibilities for the market. I like this, so they've stopped selling it

To contact us Click HERE
Long-time readers may recall that some time ago I suddenly started putting on weight and inches around my waist; ironically this was due to an attempt to change my eating habits to something healthier. A few modifications later and I'm back to where I was and all the new trousers I had to buy now require a belt.

One of the modifications made was a snack during mid-morning; I wanted something that was healthy (ish), light, and easy to eat. Cereal bars seemed like the ideal choice, but I found they were either full of sugar and fat or taste-wise far too intense for my palate. They also had the problem in that they were far too crumb-ridden not something to be eaten at a desk or near a computer unless you've got a handheld vac nearby. Going through various types I discovered something that seemed ideal - Fruit Bowl's School Bars.

Basically a solid fruit paste - easy to store and keep, a choice of four simple flavours, five in a pack, and cheap at around £1.50 a pack. I could buy one pack of each flavour and alternate one-a-day so a full round would last me a month before I needed any more. Better yet they were stocked in the Co-op, Sainsbury's and Morrisons so I could pretty much pick them up regardless of where I was shopping without having to make a special visit to a particular store.

Co-op have stopped selling them; Sainsbury's have stopped selling them; Morrisons are selling only two flavours. Oh yeah of course what should I have expected. It's like the Sanchi Shoyu Soy Sauce that's vanished; the only stuff now available has added sugar  (rather than wheat) and/or uses soy extract (so that's water, plus soy extract that itself is mostly water) I had to get the Kikkoman which is the same price for half the amount; good stuff though.

However this time around I spotted what could be a substitute - Nakd, but similar to my soy dilemma; only four per pack and 50p more. Not as paste-like as the school bars, but still minimum crumbage.

Sainsbury's only seem to be selling them in packs, but Morrisons' had them singularly. So I've been munching through a variety of flavours.

Ginger Bread - Not too gingery a bit like a ginger malt loaf in texture.
Cashew Cookie - A little too bland.
Cocoa Orange - Woof. Concentrated dark orange chocolate. A little too rich for me, but I know those who'd like it.
Berry Cheeky - Oh yes. Fruity, but not overly so. Definitely my favourite.
Cocoa Loco - More nutty than chocolatey to me. Enough of a taste to be acceptable.
Apple Pie - Not bad, not really appley to me though.

A few more flavours to try. But so far enough of a selection I like to intersperse with the few remaining flavours of School Bars I can still locate. That is until they stop selling these too.

Only in Russia? Nope pretty much anywhere

Driving back to work I headed up Vale Road towards the infamous filter/merge Gilgal. A stream of traffic heading into the left-hand lane, but I noted that if I slowed slightly I'd reach the junction at a point I'd be able to slip into the large gap after a white van at the end of the line. Well I would have, if a red car hadn't accelerated sharply to catch up with the end of said line.

I reached the junction as planned and slipped slowly and carefully into the right-hand lane putting me at a point behind the white van and just ahead of the red car both on the left. They were obviously travelling faster than I as they didn't have a sharp corner to negotiate and so both pulled ahead. The red car indicated and pulled in front of me. I indicated and switched to the right.

The red car then wavered and switched back in front of me, put on more acceleration to overtake another red car in front of them (who must have pulled over some time ago from the original stream) and then indicated and slammed themselves between the white van (on the left) and the other red car (on the right).

What a pillock

A look at UK debt.

To contact us Click HERE
I've mentioned the current belt tightening (for some at least) and how in theory this could be a long-term good thing. We've just had the news regarding the tax threshold increase which by itself is a good thing and about time too, of course it's not by itself and comes with a whole raft of benefit cuts. That means the salary 'bonus' that we would be spending within the economy will simply be recirculating within the same systems. Stepping away from that micro-economic situation I want to turn to UK debt.

I've already stated that debt of a country is not the same as debt of an individual or family; but it goes deeper than that. Consider a family in debt, the logical thing to do is tighten belts and pay it of before the interest makes it a massive burden. However consider this from the loaning agency's point of view. They want the family to remain in debt. Rather than pay off a £150 loan at a ruinous rate of interest in two monthly £100 payments they want the family to pay it off in thirty monthly £10 payments. They want more money and if they can't pay they can claim the collateral. That's the same principle behind country debt.

Buying debt from a country is a long-term investment, it's the thirty £10 payments, and it's bought for that very reason. But what happens if the country starts paying it back quicker? It's no longer a long-term investment it's a short-term one and gets traded as such. The debt is less likely to be bought or sold because it's bringing in less money. Which means the country in question has the ability to borrow less. Oh sure everyone knows they're good for it, but it becomes a pump and dump stock which requires a sucker for it to be dumped on.

Now take those solid repayments coming from a country with zero growth and ask "How long can they keep doing this?" If the economy goes down the toilet they'll have no money to pay back even the interest they might end up defaulting. So what, if they do the debt-holders can simply take the collateral... ah. A country has no separate collateral, its ability to repay is tied to its economy. If the country fails the debt-holders are left with worthless pieces of paper.

So a country with low (zero) growth quickly trying to repay its debts pretty much screams stay away or draws opportunists trying to make a quick buck, look to Greece as a prime example of this (and consider that this is being seriously propped-up due to it's Euro membership)

So what's the current policy being shouted out by our government - let's pay off our debts quickly with a resultant moratorium on growth.

Run away! Run away!

Cheeburger Cheeburger

    I just recently got a new job so to celebrate me and my roommate went to a diner called "Cheeburger Cheeburger". It was a great way to celebrate. As soon as you walk in you see a great atmosphere and smell great tasting food. They also have a pound burger challenge. If you complete the burger you get a free t-shirt and your picture up on the wall of fame. Obviously I didn't try the challenge.

    I would have loved to try the challenge but there was no way I would've been able to finish the entire thing. Instead, I celebrated with a classic 1/4 pound burger. I had it made medium well with bleu cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and honey mustard. The burger was so packed that some of the lettuce and most of the onions kept falling out. So I basically got a free salad with the burger. Good thing they gave us a knife and fork. The burger was delicious. Not the best I've had, but it's on the top of my chart.

   We then tried the "best of both" which was basically an order of both fries and onion rings. The fries were pretty good. The onion rings were huge and quite tasty as well. And last but no least, the milkshake!

   I had a s'mores  milkshake. It was basically chocolate with marshmallow made into a shake. It was delicious. As soon as I got the shake I couldn't stop drinking it. The milkshake however was what filled me up. We were so full that we had to get a container for the "best of both" to take back home. We stuffed ourselves to the point that we couldn't move for a few minutes. I love it when that happens.

  Overall, I loved this place. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the shakes were yummy. I'd definitely go back. Maybe next time I'll take on the pound burger challenge. In which case, wish me tons of luck!

  Cheeburger Cheeburger is also within the same area that "Wing Stop" is at. So if you're not in the mood for burgers you can simply walk up the block and get chicken wings instead. But I do highly recommend this place. That burger was delicious and I can't wait to get my hands on another.

3D transistor
Intel has announced a new 3D “Tri-Gate” transistor to hit the market soon and go into mass production. It will allow the company to keep shrinking chips. From my understanding and overview, this transistor will definitely affect all of our new technology next year.
It will decrease energy consumption, allow for batteries to last longer, increase speed and efficiency. This is great and wanted to share it with you. Watch the video below from Intel.
Intel’s New 3D transistor to change the world of electronics once again. Wow!, it is something to look forward to in near future in laptops, mobile devices, netbooks, etc.
According to Intel, we will see the new technology first in its 22nm Ivy Bridge CPU’s, going into mass production in the second half of the year, and it’s planning 14nm chips in 2013 and 10nm chips in 2015.

Apple might have a new update up their sleeves with iOS 5 which reports show might bring Over-The-Air Firmware update.

If they decide to use over the air update with 3G then more compresses packages are needed or they should only use Wi-Fi as a source of update download for huge files over 600 megs.

We will see what happens, but all the new technology on the rise it does not surprise me that this will actually be implemented for convenience and the fact that more and more people on the go are using tablets and handhelds than PC's these days for ease of use.

iPad Bluetooth Keyboard at a bargain

To contact us Click HERE
Are you looking and looking for a wireless bluetooth keyboard for your iPad, read this article to help you decide if this one is right for you.

Recently I was in need of a keyboard for my iPad 2, I as checking online and found several but easily over $50 dollars. Until I found an iPad Generic Bluetooth keyboard that looks like the keyboard Apple sells for $60 dollars for half the price at $29 and here it is pictured below.

This keyboard is great for the price it has the following pros and cons:

Pros:
- made of durable plastic for normal use.
- keys click is soft
- letters and numbers easy to read
- keys function with great response time. No lag noticed.
- Cost
- Easy to access battery slot on the back that uses 2 "AAA" batteries
- Has an on/off sliding button on the back, easy to access and protected
- Keyboard is tilted around 15 to 20 degrees
- Comfortable
- Easy sinks to iPad/iPad 2, only one time needed
- Easy access key controls above keyboard

Cons:
- Sink button can only be pressed in with small object not included.
You can use a pen/pencil or paperclip
- It goes to sleep to fast, if you don't keep it active it shuts off after 38 - 40 seconds. It can be a pro cause since it saves battery. Comes back to life in a matter of seconds.
- Not Apple material, lets face it, if you want something better you have to spend more, but this keyboard does the job for those beginner bloggers and people that want to save money.

Function keys above keyboard do the following:

Square key = home key to return to home screen on iPad
F1 = Search
F2 = Decreases brightness
F3 = Increases brightness
F4 = Photo viewer
F5 = hide or show keyboard
F6 = unknown,(empty space)
F7 = reverse skip
F8 = play/pause
F9 = forward skip
F10 = mute button
F11 = volume down

Sony has not rolled out update to let players back online and many are getting very inpatient. They have to understand that Sony will not place the service back online until they are confident that the system is ready to go to avoid future attacks.

This can take some time, someone on twitter had a point on comments section to PlayStation's blog that made sense.

Their comment stated that as soon as Sony brings the system back online that it will be hacked again. Yes, it is definitely a possibility, after all hackers strive to break code to accommodate and remove restrictions placed on the full potential of equipment.

We can only wait and see how well Sony implements their new security update. One thing is that if it goes live soon and soon after it goes down again, then PSN multiplayer gamers will start to look someplace else. That is a key feature that many purchase game consoles or games. Single player is not as popular anymore. There is nothing more entertaining than seeing someone loose on the opposite team and know that they are sitting in front of TV/Computer just like you. As a gamer you can imagine what they are thinking. Yes, at the end it's just a game but great competition is always fun.

Battlefield 3 Beta coming soon

Battlefield 3 Beta to roll out in October 2011 per EA blog, for the people that purchased Medal of Honor Limited Edition.

Be warned as EA blog states the following: "If you’re on Twitter — and you probably are — you might have noticed some folks out there claiming they just signed up for a Battlefield 3 beta, and offer you a link to click. Do not click these links. They’re gateways to scams, hijacks, spyware and a lot of stuff you don’t want on your computer. If you come across these links, simply click “Block and report”, and hope that Twitter will remove these accounts. "

So don't be fooled to believe those lies. Game is due at the end of the year if all goes well, and beta will be kind of late but it is coming. All we can do for now is wait patiently kicking online butt with BFBC2 and MOH.
